I live in Florida and its get very humid sometimes and even if the thermostat set for lover temperature you feel very uncomfortable because of humidity. This one is perfect for my living room that is open space with kitchen and dining room (about 1000 sq ft.) It reduced humidity super quick and keep it on the level that i set it for. Works pretty quiet but the only thing if you install it permanently i would definitely recommend to run the hose outdoor, since it got filled with water super fast. Overall definitely recommend and its much cheaper then well known brands. My energy bill hasn’t changed as well, so i think its pretty energy efficient.

Very attractive unit rolls easily. Easy access to tank when emptying is necessary and the digital display tells me when to empty. I use the water to water my house plants but I haven’t needed the tube for automatic emptying. This was an excellent purchase and I am reviewing simply because we always consider reviews when purchasing items. I definitely recommend! Please watch short video to see for yourself. My house smells and feels so much better than it did before this dehumidifier.

I have a smaller 1920s house on a pier and crawl foundation in Florida and humidity has always been an issue during the “in between seasons” when the A/C is not running. I bought this and use the drain hose to the outside. It has done the job, bringing the humidity from the high 60s to the high 50s. The tank is somewhat small, but that is my only complaint. Quiet and compact.

We live in a coastal town in Northern California and have experienced severe mold problems in both of our houses. Our last house had a dehumidifier running 24/7 and we threw out gallons of water. We moved to our new house (built in 1940) and noticed a mildew smell in the winter in our bathroom and mold growing behind our beds and on our windows. When our old humidifier finally died I purchased this one from Amazon. It arrived quickly, easy set up and so much quieter than our old dehumidifier. We have noticed that our bathroom, which is oddly huge, stays mold-free as well as our connecting master bedroom and closet. It runs 24/7, 365 days a year. I love everything about it except the small capacity water tank to manually empty the water. Not enough to not purchase it again, and not enough to hook up the hose. I would 100% purchase this dehumidifier again.

I’ve been using this for about a month in my 1400 square foot ranch home that has a lot of moisture problems due to it being an older home lacking proper moisture barrier as well as a giant oak tree that shades the whole back of the house, and mold problems. The reservoir was getting full about every 6 to 8 hours at first and now it’s about 12 hours until full. On a cool day without sun, humidity in my house gets as high as 80% plus, which is way too high. Ideal humidity is about 45%. It is quiet and the sound is not disturbing. Easy to use. Will see if it drastically helps out my house.

We purchased a home with a disgusting wet,
Mildew ridden basement. The smell was so bad, I couldn’t even go down to the basement without getting an asthma attack. We bought this dehumidifier and it said the moisture level was 96%. I thought that couldn’t be true, wouldn’t it be raining? But I soon found it, yes that level was accurate. We weren’t able to install the auto drain feature, so my husband was emptying this thing literally every hour for 2 weeks. Then the moisture started to go down to 70/60% even with hard rains, and we were emptying it four times a day. I finally did a little regrading at the ground level, and sealed off the basement a little better, and after 6 weeks this dehumidifier is keeping the moisture level at 42% and I am emptying it 1-2 times per day. The smell has gone away about 95%, and I can actually go down into the basement without suffering. This dehumidifier is amazing. Works very effectively and efficiently!

I have a friend that owns an HVAC business that recommended this Shinco 40 to me a year ago and I finally followed up on it, I wish I would’ve done it right because it made such a huge difference in how nice and dry the air feels when you walk in the basement now. No more musky smell! Cannot believe how much moisture/water this thing starts pulling out of the air shortly after plugging in the little clear drain hose was full and dumping in sump pit. Nice quality and workmanship. Ships quickly. Money WELL Spent!

I bought this in early September and set it up immediately in my 1400 sq. ft. fully blanket insulated basement with some A/C (4 vents) (in Iowa). We had plenty of warm days and judging by its output this dehumidifier does indeed remove 40 pints of moisture per day. My only problem was that there was obviously way more moisture to be removed as it ran constantly. It could never get the humidity down below 60%. This was not the machine’s fault. It is quiet and the humidistat and thermometer built into the display are precisely accurate. In late fall it was easily able to drop the humidity under 60% and the humidistat started it up and cut it off as needed. Impact on my electric bill was negligible.

I will wait until next summer to see how things go. If it can’t handle the humidity to my satisfaction then I will simply move up to a higher capacity model. Shinco has a good product here. You just have to know your climate and the needs of the space you are trying to dehumidify. In my case 40 pints of removed moisture per day simply wasn’t enough. 4 stars nonetheless for the overall quality of the machine.

This unit easily manages the square footage that it advertises. We live in a high humidity state and had our basement in a desired relative humidity percentage in a short time. The unit automatically shuts down in the reservoir is full and it is very simple to convert and use with a drain as well. The unit is sleek in design and more quiet than I expected.

I have owned other dehumidifiers before and I am impressed with how quiet and efficient this unit is. I have it in a basement that’s approximately 2000 square feet, and it has made a noticeable difference in keeping the space drier. The air had a certain flavor to it before because the moisture that would seep in through the stone foundation would linger for an extended period. I don’t hear the unit nor has it made a noticeable impact on my electric bill, and I have it running around the clock. It senses the level of humidity in the basement and automatically increases or decreases the fan speed accordingly. I have the water draining into a sink instead of going into the tank.
I am very pleased with my purchase.
